Announcing Our New Board Members at Cohort Sistas

We are thrilled to introduce the newest members of the Cohort Sistas Board of Directors. These distinguished individuals bring a wealth of experience, passion, and dedication to our mission of supporting historically excluded people pursuing research doctorates. Please join us in welcoming them to the Cohort Sistas leadership team!

HilLary Webb-Ganaway, EdD

Fiscal Manager, New York University

Dr. Hillary Webb-Ganaway is a dedicated higher education professional with over twenty years of experience in administration, workshops, and teaching. Her research focuses on retaining and supporting Black doctoral students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Dr. Webb serves in the Opportunities Programs Department at New York University, where she fosters student success. Her educational background includes degrees from John Jay College, New York University, the CUNY Graduate Center, and NYU's Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development. Dr. Webb’s commitment to marginalized students and her extensive experience in higher education are invaluable to Cohort Sistas.

Joanne Kamens, PhD

Scientist and DEI Consultant

Dr. Joanne Kamens received her PhD in genetics from Harvard Medical School and has had a varied career in academia, pharma, biotech, and nonprofit. She founded the Boston chapter of the Association for Women in Science (MASS AWIS) and has been a strong advocate for inclusion in the workplace. As the former Executive Director/CEO of Addgene, Dr. Kamens implemented innovative inclusive practices and achieved remarkable employee retention rates. Currently, she serves as an equity & inclusion consultant and holds several board positions, including the National AWIS Board of Directors. Dr. Kamens's dedication to mentoring and creating inclusive work environments makes her an invaluable addition to our board.

Stacy Blake-Beard, PhD

Clinical Professor, Tuck School of Business

Dr. Stacy Blake-Beard is a clinical professor at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College, where she instructs on managing organizations and mentoring as a developmental process. Dr. Blake-Beard’s work focuses on the challenges and opportunities offered by mentoring relationships, particularly for women and in diverse workforces. With a background that includes affiliations with Simmons University’s School of Business and Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education, Dr. Blake-Beard brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our board. Her global research and numerous accolades, including a Fulbright Award, underscore her commitment to mentoring and diversity.

Tiffany Wiggins, PhD

Assistant Professor, North Carolina Central University

Dr. Tiffany Wiggins is an assistant professor of higher education administration at North Carolina Central University. Her research explores the experiences of Black women in academia, mentoring relationships, and the success factors for graduate and doctoral students. As the creator of Black Girl Mentor and an ICF-certified coach through Noire Coaching & Consulting, Dr. Wiggins is deeply committed to mentorship and personal development. Her involvement with Cohort Sistas’s Sista Circle Mentorship Program earned her the Outstanding Mentorship Award. Dr. Wiggins holds degrees from Christopher Newport University, George Washington University, and Old Dominion University. Beyond her professional achievements, she is a devoted mother.

At Cohort Sistas, our Board of Directors plays a critical role in shaping our strategy, ensuring effective governance, and driving our mission forward. With the addition of these new members, we are more equipped than ever to support our community and create lasting change.

As we welcome these new board members, we also want to express our deepest gratitude to our existing board for their continued dedication and hard work. Together, we are poised to make significant strides in advancing racial and gender equity in higher education.
